The Truth About Fibromyalgia

A book I just recently wrote cites over 140 references dealing with cause, triggers, susceptibility to this disorder (not disease). It is a neurological disorder in which pain is not properly inhibited in the brain. This likely is caused by disturbances in the deep sleep patterns primarily affecting the limbic system whose function is to regulate pain and sympathetic nervous activity as well a slibido, among others. A variety of Central Sensitization Syndromes can occur as a result: migraine, iritable bowel, chronic fatigue, bladder and chronic pelvic pain, restless legs, etc. Therapy must be directed at improving the chemical imbalances and sleep dysruption.
